I am happy to share a major breakthrough that our World Bank’s PFM has recently made in Indonesia. As per our advice, the Government of Indonesia has issued new set of sub-economic classification for COVID-19 expenditures to track allocation, expenditure, and outputs for mitigating impact of COVID-19. These classifications have been incorporated in the government’s financial management information system (FMIS) for the ease of accounting and reporting.

Under World Bank’s programmatic advisory services and analytics under PFM MDTF, our team has recently developed a new mobile application (called the “APBN Transparency App”) to inform citizens about government’s budget allocation, expenditure and outputs across sectors, ministries, programs and activities. Citizens will be able to access this information on their mobile phones at the press of a button.

A separate button has been created for providing access to citizens regarding budget allocation and expenditure on mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as well.

The mobile app also aims to capture citizens’ comments and inputs on the effectiveness and efficiency of the budget being spent.

Mobile App is currently going through its BETA testing phase and is expected to be launched for citizens by end of August 2020.
